Botanical gardens and animal parks (2024-06-22)

Two years ago a comparison between Japanese and Scandinavian parks was made. These comparisons were made between Kyoto Botanical Garden and Lund Botanical Garden, and between Tennoji Zoo and Scania Animal Park. A day was spent with photos at each animal park. In the botanical gardens one finds themselves so surrounded by vegetation that multiple trips were made.

Results are that the botanical gardens feel the same for someone who doesn't know anything about plants. It seems that the flowers you see in the Japanese garden also appear in the Scandinavian one. The difference lies in that you have to pay an entrance fee for the Kyoto Botanical Garden. Inside the artist sits under trees and paints the landscape. In Lund the entrance is free and the garden is filled with students who like to use the area for picnics.

On the other hand, the animal parks are a world apart. At Tennoji Zoo they have a wide variety of animal species and the entrance was cheap, however, the enclosures are small and the animals look worried as they try to run in their enclosure. In Scania Animal Park they have collected a bunch of European animals, and those animals look happy, however, entrance fee is high and the park feels like it was made for children.

With that, here are four albums from two years ago. There will be more photos from Lund Botanical garden (since it's free it's a subject to frequent visits). Until then, please take your time and enjoy these photos.

Expanded info etc. (2023-11-08)

An information sheet has been added to each post and 6 new photo albums have been published. Three of the albums were taken in spring in the South Ward of Kyoto and follows the Katsura River and the Kamo River as some showcase of Kisshoin. The next three albums were from the following summer in Sweden with one at night. The night album is taken from the night shift worker's perspective for a full year. Furthermore, the photo album category "location" has been divided into 4 new categories. On the top of that "the photowall" which is a mixture of photos have made a reentry on the website.

Unfortunately the amount of photos to review has been immense and portrait photography has been postponed. For now photos of plants and photos of animals have been prepared for revision. Besides photography, a lot of time has gone into software development. Those who know, know about this lengthy project. Since the continuation of the software is sporadic there is no telling of when an alpha version will be available.
