Riga

It was a hot day. The photographer arrived in Riga - the second largest city in the Baltics. He bought some ice-cream from a vendor outside the station and ate. The ice cream was cheap and not very good. So he walked around in the area around the station to take a few photos.

Afterwards the photographer sat down next to the river to enjoy the view. Behind him there was some road construction and above him pigeons soared in the sky. There sat a man next to him on the grass, leaned against a stone pillar. He could not tell if the man was homeless, or if he was a worker. In any case, he took out some chocolate from his rucksack and offered it to the man. The man happily ate the chocolate, however, due to the hot weather it had melted and spilled on the man's clothes. So the photographer also offered some tissues. The two sat there for the next hour just looking at the scenery. It took until the man stood up for the photographer to notice that he was missing one leg as he watched the man stumble away on crutches.
