Pheasants

This photo session came about when the photographer went out together with a friend to ride around the city on bicycles. The photographer brought a light camera and rode around Lund with his friend. The trip went through familiar places that have already been presented on the website, like Höjeådalen and Rinnebäck Ravine. While they were out there were pheasants running around in the high grass next to them and a falcon flew over the photographer's head. "Why didn't I bring my zoom lens on such a good occasion," the photographer thought to himself, and prepared his photography equipment for birds after getting home.

A few days later the photographer grabbed his equipment and headed out to the previous locations. He wanted to take a photo of pheasants and falcons just the way he had seen them the previous day. First he went to Höjeådalen. Swallows were flying around after insects above the ponds and below in the water a family of geese were swimming around. The parents climbed over a concrete ledge to the other side of the pond, however the goslings were too small and couldn't keep up. Meanwhile, the other birds around collected material for building their nests.

Afterwards the photographer walked to the outskirts of town. A goose flew past him in the sky and he heard the calls of a pheasant. In the tall grass there was a pheasant walking around. However, when the photographer chased after the pheasant with his camera the bird naturally fled.

The walk continued further away from town. There the photographer could clearly hear pheasants' calls from the fields. He slowly crawled closer to the field and could see how wild animals had gathered on the cut hay. Surely he had found the pheasants again. Furthermore there were also hares on the field and lots of wood pigeons. There were also roe deer just on the edge of the groove across.

The photographer snuck around and into the groove to finally try to catch that pheasant photo. As he closed into the field the wood pigeons all flew into the air at the same time which scared away the hares and the pheasants (at this point the roe deer had already returned into the groove). The photographer thought to wrap his shoot and give up the photo for this time. However, as he walked back, just where he came out of the groove next to the road there was a pheasant mindlessly staring back at him. He set the exposure on his camera and finally he got his pheasant photo.

Unfortunately there were no falcons to be seen that day. At least, as a bonus, the photographer was out to Höjeådalen again a month later for some more photos. Those photos have been added below into the current album.
