Autumn rats

Season photography

November. It is autumn. Above the leaves have turned golden yellow and below they lay peacefully scattered. However, this time's photography subject is a bit different. This time the camera is not out for the autumn leaves, but hides underneath the fallen foliage. If you listen closely to the leaves you can hear footsteps move around underneath, and if you wait for a while eventually two ears pop up from underneath the leaves. These are the city's rats. These small animals wander the city's streets and parks.

This photo session starts outside Lund's University building. Here there are two ponds and a pile of leaves next to the buildings. A seat next to the pond should reveal the rodents' perspective - they can hide in the bushes and come out to the water if they want a drink. So one was led to believe, however, during the session rats ran in the grass and as they approached the water they leaped out and in with a plunge. Therefore, the photos taken are of rats swimming.

From there the session continues in the city park. People come here to feed the birds but there are also plenty of rats since they eat the leftover bread. Normally rats are scared of people, however they are also very curious creatures. So, if they hear the shutter sound of a camera they don't run away, rather they approach the sound. Furthermore, the camera lens is large enough to cover the photographer's face. Therefore, there are good photos of rats from the park.
