Dalby Quarry

The photos in this album were taken during a short excursion to an old quarry in Dalby, Sweden.
The quarry is located in an area called Knivsåsen and it takes approximately 10 minutes to walk from the closest bus stop to the quarry.
Here, once the rain stopped a bunch of kids took the opportunity to jump into the water and it became clear that it's a popular spot for swimming.
Raspberries could be found growing in between bushes and if one was just any good at climbing they'd be able to reach and pick the berries growing from the side of the cliffs.
Also, there were some crayfish in the water that were easy to scoop up with bare hands and inspect.
In contrast to the lively swimming area the surrounding yellow plains to the east, and the beech forest to the west and north were peacefully quiet.
If you leave the quarry you can find yourself out on a summer's field.
These fields with tall grass are used as pastures, and further in you can spot a herd of cows.
As you walk you can listen to insects, and if you'd look down into the grass for grasshoppers you'd also find small purple flowers.
